Year 5 thought about Healthy Living. There were many exciting activities:
• Sugar rush – looking for sugar in different products.
• Food pyramids – what food is good fro you (food groups)
• Mental health – stress and how to control it.
• Blue Cross – talking about animal health.
First the made food pyramids with lots of different foods. At the bottom were bread and whole meal things. Then it was fruit and vegetables like carrots, apples, leeks and bananas. After was dairy and meats. Then it was chocolate and sweets. At the very top was oil.
The Blue Cross came in with a dog. They told us how to look after our pets and what the Blue Cross do. The dog they brought in was a cross breed; a Labrador poodle. They showed us that there are different foods for different animals.
Year 5 also looked at how much sugar there is in different products. They also learned about how much fat and protein are in products as well.
The last thing Year 5 did was relaxation. They learned what stress was and how to deal with it. They also found out what a worry tree was.
