General Admissions Overview

Ralph Sadleir School is a mixed middle school, covering school years 5-8 for children aged 9-13.  The school’s Published Admission Number (PAN) for the school is 90.

Our school has a three form entry cohort in Year 5 annually.  Most pupils come from the adjoining first school and the other 8 schools in the three-tier pyramid.  The majority of children attending Ralph Sadleir live in Hertfordshire.

Since Puckeridge and the surrounding areas have continued to grow over the years there have always been sufficient places at Ralph Sadleir School for the transfer at the 9+ age group.

All the published information for Hertfordshire residents can be found at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk as well as the Application Form.

Arrangements for the admission of children with disabilities

The admission of students with disabilities is considered in the first instance in the same way as non-disabled students. Further considerations are made in the light of need and accessibility and the school would work with parents/carers and other agencies involved to ensure that appropriate provision could be provided. It is the school policy to accommodate students with disabilities should parents wish and individual needs are planned for to prevent any students with disabilities being treated less favourably than other students.

In practice, we ensure that classroom and extra-curricular activities encourage the participation of all children, including those categorised as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Staff organise human and physical resources within the school to increase access to learning and participation by all students.

Existing facilities provided to assist access to the school by children with disabilities:

  • Step free access to the school site and into the school buildings, 1 disabled parking bay is available by the main reception doors.
  • Carpeted classrooms to aid hearing impaired children’ learning.
  • A Disabled toilet is available
  • Single storey building with typically wide corridors and access routes.
