The penultimate week of the half term, Christmas but a distant memory (Only 321 days to go by the way) and things in school are certainly hotting up.  Well, in Food Technology for certain as the Year 7’s and Year 8’s have been leaving school all week clutching their respective crumbles and bolognaise sauce – I am fairly certain this is not linked to a drop in attendence this week!!

Whilst things in school are hotting up outside is still freezing cold (It must’ve been cold as Mr Morgan was forced to put on tracksuit bottoms rather than his customary shorts) and huge kudos go to the children (And quite possibly the parents) coming to school with winter boots, wellies and big coats.  Despite the conditions clubs and House League matches carried on and some fine competition was engaged in, I will give an update on the league tables next week.

Several children have been out representing the school in various competitions this week: Year 6 went to the Sportshall Athletics; Year 7 were at the County Maths Challenge, where they came 6th out of 17 schools; and Year 8 were taking part in the Rotary Club Technology Challenge, more of which can be found in next week’s newsletter.  Mr Morgan said ‘Wednesday saw our U11 pupils take part in the NEH District Sports Hall athletics competition, held at Freman College sports hall.

6 schools were taking part this year making it the biggest competition we have had in this area. All of the pupils were excellent, giving 100% effort and doing their very best for the team. The girls finished in 3rd place, just 2 points from second place! The boys finished 5th with just 8 points separating 3rd and 5th.  A very close competition and some excellent experience for some of our KS2 pupils to take part in. Well done to all involved, excellent performances all round.’

Assembly focus thisweek has been on Togetherness and working with others and the introduction to Internet Safety Week, which the children will be finding out more about in Computing lessons next week.

Today has been all about the red, as the children and staff were allowed to wear something of the unholy colour and give a donation to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.  I am perfectly fine with today being red as long as the weekend is white!!
