Well that’s week one done (thank goodness it was only a 4 day week!!)

It has seemed strange this week, lots of people keep asking me how my first day went or how was the first week, when actually I just see this as the beginning of my sixth term as a Ralphie – I’m not new!!  I’d like to thank everyone for their support during this time of transition, not least Miss Bickerstaff, who quite graciously keeps reminding me that ‘this is not your office any more’ when I turn right instead of keep on going!

Back to more important matters ie what the children have been up to and that starts back during the Easter holidays when our Key Stage 3 cricketers played in the regional final of the Lady Taverners competition and the indoor centre of Leicestershire.  All the girls performed exceptionally well although they didn’t manage to make it through to the National finals.

Continuing on a sporting theme, it was lovely to see so many Year 3/4 pupils from the District participating in the tag rugby festival on Thursday.  All the teams were ably supported by our 45 Sports Leaders and superbly refereed by Freman students.  Everyone involved certainly seemed to enjoy themselves, including Mrs Hesketh who was a being passionate parental supporter on the sidelines.

In school the highlight this week had to be the amazing smells wafting out from the Food Tech room as Year 7 made their pizzas – ham seemed a popular topping.  As the week drew to its close Miss Dobson and D6 delivered a wonderful assembly on the analogy of the journey of life being like a running race – a marathon not a sprint!!

It’s an important few weeks for the country as this week we had St George’s Day and in a fortnight we go to the polls in the General Election.  I shall leave you with an interesting political question, would St George be an eligible migrant in UKIP’s eyes?
