Hello everyone, i’m back – did you miss me?

It has been a hectic few weeks both in and out of school, with lots going on.

There has been lots of sporting action for both the boys and the girls: our Year 5 girls beating St Edmunds but our Year 6 losing; the Year 7 & 8s competing at the District Cross Country; a mixed Year 6 team taking part in the basketball at Royston and table tennis and speed stacking; finally our Year 7 boys narrowly lost 2-1 to Etonbury Academy in the English Schools Cup.

This week marked the 100th anniversary of the First World War, lots of activities took place in school but the focal point was Mrs Hinton’s assembly and huge poppy display with contributions from both staff and pupils.  A huge thank you to you all who donated money, the British Legion man was very happy when he arrived this morning.  Special mention should go to Paige and Courtney from Year 8 whom took on the majority of the collecting.

In keeping with the Rememberance theme our wonderful kitchen staff dressed up and delivered a delicious, nutritous 1940’s themed menu.

 

 

 

 

 

Today’s assembly introduced this half-term’s Ralph Sadleir Skill – Thinking about your thinking or Metacognition to give it its posh scientific name.  We will be encouraging the children to be open minded; consider the input of others; generate alternatives; and to knowing what they do and say affects others and the impact of their choices.

The second part was introducing Anti-bullying week which is next week where the children will be exploring this emotive subject more in their PSHE lessons.  It gave our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to introduce themselves, more from them to follow….

Looking forward, the Bazaar is not to far away, I know this not because Miss Bickerstaff is reminding everyone, but because our office is slowly filling up with bottles for the bottle stall.  All donations (except empty) are greatfully received, it is a huge fundraiser for the RSA and in turn the school so please make a donation if you can and come along to support the school in 3 Saturdays time.  HELPFUL REMINDER – 6 shopping weekends until Christmas, jingle bells everybody!!
