Friday 21st March
A belated hello from this(last) week’s Blog. Unfortunately I was out at the National Middle School’s Conference on Friday, it was an interesting day where lots of plans for the future were discussed.
Last week saw lots of activities organised by Mrs Bingham for National Science Week, culminating with the House Quiz. As part of the week our Year 6 team went over to GSK for an afternoon of experiments. Joshua G. from S6 wrote a short report – ‘While we were there, we were introduced to three very smart scientists. They focused on the topic of solids, liquids and gases. Two students were picked to go up and hold a block of ice and watch it melt. As the ice was melting, they asked us at what temperature we thought it was and it was exactly 0 degrees Celsius!I really enjoyed the experiment of blowing up a glove and balloon with CO2. The scientists put a flame near the balloon to see its reaction. It was exciting to see the bomb with CO2 being fired above heads and across the room. The trip to GlaxoSmithKline was really interesting, fun and educational’ – certainly sounds like they had a lot of fun.
