Many thanks for the donations at our Christmas Carol Services. The collections totalled £187.71 which will go to the charity ‘Emmaus St Albans’.

Emmaus is a secular international charitable movement funded in Paris in 1949 by the Catholic priest Abbe Pierre to combat poverty and homelessness. In the UK the charity provides formerly homeless people with a home and work, which is usually collecting, sorting and reselling donated furniture and household goods. St Mary’s Standon (and her sister churches in Little Munden and Sacombe) are supporting the work of Emmaus St Albans, which is home to 30 ’companions’.

On behalf of the Directors and Local Governing Body of Ralph Sadleir School, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that following a detailed recruitment process we have reached a decision regarding the appointment of our new headteacher upon the retirement of Mrs Hinton in April 2015.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Spong, our current deputy and with whom many of you will be familiar, his appointment commencing on Monday 20th April 2015.

This money will be donated to the charities that were close to Mrs Shore-Nye’s heart.
